New Big Block Guy

I have been working on a project off and on for about 5 years now and it is comming close to being finished. It's a 75 camaro and I have been building a 427 Tall Deck w/502 crank H-beam rods 60 over worked 454 oval ported heads and a hydrolic cam(sorry don't know cam exact specs).A TH350 moving this but progress started last night,it was turned over after being rebuilt for 4 years. Everything worked well and I hope to have pics to post up soon. Thanx for reading this.

Kind of a relief isn't it? My Camaro was down for 5 years also and got totalled 2 months after the new 396 went in. Ended up being a blessing in disguise 'cause now I have a Z06 that's just as fast and smog legal .

I started with a 454 and I'm now up to a 540. If I ever need to increase the size again, 572 isn't going to be an option. I'll go right to a 632.

Displacment is a wonderful thing...
What are you planing to do with it? Street? Strip or both?
What pistons are you using and what is your apprx comp ratio.

I've been eyeing a world products alloy X block and alloy heads...but gotta get the kids through college first....then maybe...

Not sure the CR, The guy that built the motor passed away from canser. The pistons are Kieth Black I think. Itwas five years ago that the motor was done, at first it will be street then build a transmission, change stall and go solid roller cam tie up the rear and spray the heck out of it.

Cayuga? You must be near me. I was there in the fall and saw that jet dragster crash where the girl got killed Kind of put me off racing for a couple of weeks and I'm not to sure about going back to Cayuga as my local 1/4m. track (NYIRP) is a bit closer and doesn't involve a border crossing. Anyway, AFAIK KB pistons are hypereutectic's. As such you will need to be careful with nitrous. Maybe a 150 shot at most.

Cool well nitrous will be later, I just hooked up the Hurst mega shifter tonite and now I can't wait until my driveway is melted so I can back it out for the first time in 5 years. I am hoping this car will run low 13's maybe high 12's. The fron end is all fiberglass so its a little lighter. I just can't wait to drive it finally its been a long legasey for me.

Here ya go. Here's what's in my STREET car. It's never been on a track and I don't know what it'll run. I like it that way.

What size are those Dominators?

I only use a couple of 850 CFM 4150's but I'm on alcohol.

Stephen, they are 1050's. I used to run 750's, but they were installed because I was told they wouldn't work on a street car no matter what was done to them. I have been running them for 2 years now. It took quite a bit of work to make them streetable, but the visual effect was certainly worth it. The throttle response isn't as crisp as it was with the 750's, but it's a small price to pay for the overall effect and the response I get at cruise-ins and car shows.

Don't be embarresed rice killer, it is a good looking BBC.

does anyone know how much more a big block weights then a small block? seems ridiculous but i was thinking of putting one in my 86 camaro but im going to use it more for road courses so ill probably just go with the small block for weight. (fiberglass front clip, hood and doors) oh and handling
