Motor Mounts

I'm new to the site. I have owned several Camaros since the 70's. Doing a rolling resto on a 77Z for a 16 year old. Driver's side motor mount is kicking my butt. No holes to get a wrench in. I'm talking about the one on the cross member on the drivers side. Any idea how its supposed to come off.

Re: Motor Mounts

the mount on the driver side is just a bolt the nut on the ones i've had
were welded to the mount.

Re: Motor Mounts

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought too but the bolts just spin. Pass side had holes in each side of the cross member that a wrench would fit in and the nuts had a lip to fall into the wrench and stay. We got one out of the driver's side and gave up. Looks like there might be access behind the spring but the entire suspension would have to come out. I'm doing that anyway but wanted to do some cleaning and painting first. Bought the car off of E-bay and it had sat in the California desert for many years. It's all there and very little rust. Every option. Got in running some time back but now in the process of tearing everything down. Sent the motor to the machine shop today. Any advice is appreciated. Have had several Camaros, 77 plain Jane, 86Z, 89 IROC and a 76 dirt stock car. Trying to get my kid bitten by the Camaro bug.

Re: Motor Mounts

I cut the old bolts, the fish new ones up from the inside(around the lower control arm mounts/through any holes ) with a pen magnet, then tighten a nut on the top with an impact gun(won't need to hold the bolt)

Re: Motor Mounts

I used a distributor wrench to do mine. The wrench was slightly too small for the nuts I used, so I used a hammer to beat the nut into the wrench. It ended up cracking the wrench, which made it easier to get the wrench off
