more starter problems
3 weeks ago the solenoid stuck on my car which came as quite a shock to me by the time I got the ground strap unhooked the smoke was rolling out of the starter! The starter was still under warranty so I sent it back and got a new one free of charge. I installed the new starter and it worked perfect until yesterday. Went to leave work got in my car shoved the cluch hit the key and heard one click form the starter. I shut the key off and got out of the car and popped the hood thinking it was a lose battery connection but there was some kind of smoke rolling off my positive cable, ran to the shop I work in grabbed a wrench to pull the ground off and when I got back the positive cable was melted off the battery. Today I got to work and started looking for the problem I checked every wire everything looked good I towed the car into the shop put a new battery in hooked up ground and touched the positive had a huge arc, I pulled the wires off the starter and touched the positive cable with the one that powers the car off the starter no arc. Put the battery cable on the starer big arc again. Checked the starter on the bench and seemed to work. What is happening here I can't keep putting starters on every 3 weeks and the next time this happens I am a little afraid the car is going to burn.I am open for any suggestions you might have as I am out of thoughts on this one.
