LS or ZZ383

hello im new here but not new to fast cars..
im in the planning stage of my buildup, its a 80 camaro. im going to be useing it as my demo car so i want it looking/running awesome. this is what i came up with. ZZ383 w/ACCEL DFI GEN7 fuel inejtion and a 6speen tranny. also beef up the rearend w/a 4link.

ok let me get to my qwestions.....1st: which would you choose the LS1/LS2 or ZZ383. 2nd: how hard would it be to swap a LS engine into a older car. 3rd: would i gain anything by the LS.

thats all for now im sure ill have more qwestions later. remember im new here so take it easy on me....

or do you guys know a forum that might help me with this...

(I POSTED THIS ON THE LS1 SECTION ALSO)

thanks
jamie

Re: LS or ZZ383

im trying to see if the LS would be a better choice. the weight isnt an issue the car will have a fiberglass front in. the ZZ383 has 450hp and the price is around $5000.00 for a longblock. what kind of price im looking at for a LS1/LS2 engine.

thanks again

Re: LS or ZZ383

ebay has used ls1's with tranny for about $4000 speartech will hook up the wiring for about $500-$750. gas tank will have to be modified for fuel injection. I'm pretty sure there are people that make mounts (tranny/ engine) for u. ls1tech.com has a hybrid section with a lot of knowledge on the subject. My vote is for the lsx engine. if u have ever driven an lsx powered car there so much fun. plus it'll be very impressive to whomever your showing your car off to. I'm planing on doing my 71 cutlass supreme with an lsx engine.

I think the LSX would be a better choice due to reliability, gas mileage, and the fact that it is more rare to see a newer engine in a car than a crate stroker or something.

Re: LS or ZZ383

The LSx will be more expensive but more desirable due to the novelty and the power potential. BTW, I prefer Electromotive to Gen 7. The Electromotive is more expensive at first look, but you get a complete fuel management system AND an ignition system. By the time you add the costs up, it is no more expensive and often a little cheaper. And the system has more potential and is a bit easier to work with.
