Re: kid needs help wit SB

when i set the timing with the vacume advance out, should that timing be the same when it is pluged in at idle
The idle was set a 12degrees and when the advance is in it goes up towards 20degrees

i there any other decent place for vacume for the brakes?

thx again

The timing will go up when you plug the vacuum in. I run mine at 14 degrees with the vacuum line in.

I don't recall where else you can plug the booster in with one of those Performer carbs. Mine's in the intake manifold like yours.

Usually you can hear it or if it is a small leak spray startng fluid in very small amounts around the suspected leak area, if the engine increases in speed you have found your leak. Be careful not to spary so much that it gets into the carb, you wont be able to tell where the leak is coming from. This is usually helpful with an intake gasket leak or a base plate leak. Very short small spray, spurts will work.

Re: kid needs help wit SB

still not running right

when i have that vacume plugged it runs nice, just has to be at least 1100rpm at idle at park

wit the advance in it jumps the timing, raises the idle very high, and when the brake is on and it is in gear, it runs like shyt or stalls. When u give it a littel gas the timing retards ALOT. i thought this was suposed to ADVANCE the timing

i am def missing something stupid

Re: kid needs help wit SB

finally got a professional to look at it...a good frined of mine

he came over and herd it run and said "pull it"

after i took the carb out he took it apart. All i can say is i got one word for this carb's manufacture EDLE****

they gave me a blown one that was rebuilt, very poorly at that....
every f****** peice was messed up.

after fixing it to some degree i put it back on and it ran AMAZING

now the brake problem was that with the cam and booster set up there is not enough vacume. he said a cansiter will sove the problem.

now for a serious note:
the fuel was being thrown into the engine so heavly that it whent into the oil. It seem that we caught it before the fuel could eat away anything but i drained the oil out and pour 10 (yes 10) quarts of oil though the motor to make sure everything was out....

i just need to get a new filter and more oil on monday, order a canister, and ill tell how it runs once i do these mods.

i am also gettina rebuild kit and an electric coke for my holly 650cfm carb. Ithink that this is the last of the EDLECOCK

so should i go and call edlecock or just put the carb away and use the holly? I doubt they will give me any money back or anyting since i had it for a yr and a half now.
