HELP me finish my carb install - throttle issues....

Click THIS LINK and go to album titled EPS intall.

I ordered everything according to Summit but seems the parts dont fit up. Here is what I have:

(All Edelbrock btw)

-Performer EPS Intake #27011
-600 cfm elec choke carb #1406
-Throttle bracket #SPE-2428
-Throttle bracket (I think its the kickdown) #EDL 8030

I guess one problem is I need a cable set up for my throttle instead of the metal rod coming from the firewall.

Anyways - if anyone has any insight before I leave to see what the "knowledgeable" staff at classic industries will have to offer me - probably a page from their catalog.

I am not so concerned about the kickdown. I can probably replace that later - for free rather than hold up getting this new carb and intake set up going.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I told you to go with a Q-jet.

I'm a little confused. Why can't you just connect the throttle rod to the hole at the top of the throttle cam on the carb? Are the angles not right? You might need to replace it with an aftermarket universal linkage set-up.

Or are you saying you have the cable throttle already on your car and need to switch over to a throttle rod?

When I've switched 2-bbl small blocks over to Q-jets in the past, I had to make slight adjustments (tweaks) to the linkage in both cases. I also added a spring that pulls the throttle cam forward by connecting to a bolt on the thermostat housing.

Good luck.

OK - I think I got it. I just need a standard Accelerator throttle rod from the accelerator pedal lever to the carb linkage.

Classic Industries has one - they arent cheap - I was going to fabricate one with a threaded rod but this is oem style.

Anyone know how easy it is to replace the kick down cable?

go down to local autozone or autoplace and buy a holley accelerator screw or just make your own!! I had to in so many pinches that it isn't funny. Same applies to the kickdown. Do you have a piece that hold both the throttle cable and kickdown together? Go buy one as well or having your throttle cable kicking in the wind will cause unsurmassed problems.
