Getting Head.....................ers
I've got a 69 Camaro that I'm subjecting a 94' LT1 and T56 swap to. I'm at the point were I'm ready to purchase the headers. I was wondering what a good brand and style (long or short tube) would be. Price is and issue. Looks are important , too. Basically, what will fit and how much are we talking. I've got power steering and want to keep it that way. Any help would be great. If I have given enough information, let me know. Thanks
I have ceramic coated Flow Tech full length headers and they suck as far as appearance is concerned. They also have puny, easily warped flanges. I'll probably try some Hookers next time. *snicker*
I put a set of long hookers
in my '67 Camaro, but next time I swear I'm going to do shorty headers. The long headers just get in the way of EVERYTHING. I had to remove my whole clutch linkage last time just to get the driver side header in.

I wrote an E-mail to Street & Performance for some insight on my header question. They said thier Type lll LT-1 headers will work. I haven't got a price from them yet, but i suppose they will be expensive. We'll see. As far as using generic small block headers, do you insert the O2 sensor wells on the headers or on the following pipe? Also, how close was the power steering box to the tubes? My last set of headers needed a little ball-peen hammer action to get them to fit. It looked like poo when I was done.
Thanks for the help so far!

the headers fit without denting them but they do rub on the steering box a little. as far as the oxygen sensors go i welded the bung in about4 inches before the collector on the inside. you can buy a o2 bung that the sensor will screw into at napa for like $2 a piece.then you just have someone weld them in.i ran this setup all summer and it works great.

I've considered going to mid-length headers next time.
I used Hedman shorties on my 69 Camaro with a highly worked LT1. They fit beautifully. Here is a link to a page from my website that show the engine both on the stand and in the car with the headers. Good luck with your project.
