Guess what this 73 firebird should run.

Ok my uncle has almost got his 73 firebird running. It is a (1969)400 pontiac with number 46 1969 GTO heads; the heads made 290hp on the stock 400. Now my uncle also has 10:1 pistons with the comp 270h cam. Stock exhaust and intake/carb. I just want to know because he thinks it should be as fast as my car and I don't think so. I run low 12s easy. I think he is going to be in the low13s. His trans is a turbo 350 with a 2000 stall rear is stock with 3.08 gears. I don't think it will be much but I don't know a lot about the old pontiac 400. What do you guys think?

My 2nd gen runs dead even with my LS1, basically the same car/engine as your uncle.. I would say 13's right now, but it all depends on head work.

Stock exhaust and 3.08 gear aren't helping that cam, so my .02 is mid 13s. If he thinks it can run with a low 12 car... tell him to drop the crack pipe.

pont. 400's are nothing special. esp. with all that stock stuff. if he had headers, dual exh. (aftermarket), and 4.10 gear, it still wouldnt run low 12's. and the stock intake and carb sure arent goin to help him either. no way does he even got a chance if thats what he's really got. I say make a bet and take him to the track to prove himself. my guess right now is that he'd run low 14's. seriously. at about 102mph, on a 2.30 60ft.

according to his post, there is no headwork. just a head swap. which is the way pont. engines made compresion change's back in the day.

Good point, no head work and stock exhaust/headers...
That's a 14 second car...
