This isn't my car.
I was wanting estimates on it's capability.
Wanted to know what could be expected.
They are good estimates of it's potential.
No, the track time and mph it runs is not how fast it is. It is only as fast as the driver/conditions can make it. The car isn't in a solo here.
He isn't talking trash.
Estimates were inquired about...it gives a better idea.
Think about it...
Re: Guess that 383 stroker power numbers?
simple if you want hp estimates.if you cant get 1 hp per cubic inch these days geta new engine builder.so start there,383.most guys are getting around 1.2 hp per cubic inch,so thats 459 hp,guys on the up and up are getting around 1.3 hp per cubic inch,so now your at 497...so figure somewhere between there.thats as good of an estimate as you can hope for

Compare that to a 383 stroker with .591 lift cam(example)/Brodix Track 1 heads/air gap intake with bigger carb.
Do they still make the same hp/per cube

See my point...you can get a more solid ball park figure by getting similar combo numbers at the track (mainly mph is what I'm concerned with) than saying "go by cubes" which is busted by my example
Re: Guess that 383 stroker power numbers?
no your being a wise ***.if you read my post i said you should get 1 hp per inch these days so your stock 383 should get close to 380-400 hp,that would be just about 1 hp per cubic inch ge tit?now you bolt on your nifty brodix heads and your in the 1.2-1.3 hp per cubic range, get it??that puts you into the 450-500 hp rANGE,GET IT?,NOW THES EFIGURES ARE GOOD BALL PARKS FOR STREETABLE ENGINES OF COURSE.WHEN YOU START GOING TO 230 CC HEADS AND 14-1 COMP AND 600 LIFT CAMS THEN ITS A WHOLE NEW GAME BUT YOU WONT BE DRIVING THOSE ON THE STREET
Re: Guess that 383 stroker power numbers?
By Adding A Good Aftermarket Head Will Only Add 40-50 Hp To An Engine, give Or Take A Few Depending On Application.and A Bigger Carb Wont Neccessarily Translate Into More Horsepower.a Well Done 383 Should Get 450-475 Easy If It Has Half Way Decent Componenets
Re: Guess that 383 stroker power numbers?
The thread was intended for a close guess looking at the title, based on knowledge or experience I think. Thats what I did anyways. A 383 with ok heads might only gain 40-50, my 388 with good heads has a lot more. Engines vary greatly depending on the combo, sorry if we mad ya mad with our simple guesses Anthony.
Re: Guess that 383 stroker power numbers?
The responses were great...you can get pretty good estimates when people have similar combos.
I don't know why the 1 h.p per cube thing was brought up...that isn't near as accurate. Anthony was probably in a bad mood when he first posted
