Is this a good price?

I'm having my camaro repainted and extensive body work done by a professional.

Delivered completely stripped down and ready to strip the paint...just the body and four tires

The camaro needs...
-passenger side floor panels
-the panel behind the rear window needs replacing (rusted out)
-trunk pan
-firewall is going to be smooth finished and painted the same color as the car body
- passenger side rocker panel patch panel (rusted by rear tire)
- driver side pillar and front window ledge has rust damage...he's going to dig out all he can and put in a patch panel
- mini-tub out the rear wheel wells
- Cover her skin with cranberry red stage 2 paint
- Black Z/28 stripes and they'll be buried in clear coat

He's going to return it to me with just the body and four tires and I'm going to put it back together.

He's charging $6500 parts and labor. What do you think?

Price is probably fine but the car prolly ain't worth it. When it's finished will you beable to sell it for what you have invested? Cost me 4500 to have my car painted new patchpanels behind all 4 wheels because of rust and I had the rear panel replace because it had been wrecked. Big mistake putting it together myself. I've heard that strips should NOT be clearcoated over.

Out here in California the same job will cost you a lot more for a 1st gen Camaro.

sounds like a deal, if it is not a "quickie" job. i would also pay extra for the shop that paints the car to assemble all of the body panels. as for the rust below the windshield, if there is enough to have to put in a patch i would go ahead and replace the whole upper dash panel.

That sounds about right to me. Unfortunately, that also gives me an idea of how much mine would cost.

Me too. I'm looking at two Camaros right now. One is restored and one is completely disassembled and needs a complete restoration.

The project car is a plain Jane 67 coupe, but it as a "new" 350 crate motor, no tranny (MIA) and probably needs a few parts. The other car is a 68 RS coupe has 20K mi on a rebuilt 350, and is nearly perfect. (Except I don't care too much for the color. ) The price difference is $9K.

The big question is, can I restore the 67 coupe for less than that.
