Getting my engine home

Is there some type of case I can buy to ship and store my engine from the shop to home? It isn't going into the car for a while, and I don't want to just lay it on its side in the back of a trcuk and accidentally damage the oil pan.

Thanks,

There are many floor modle type enige stands you can purchase through a reputable machine shop since they use them extensively to set pre made motors on the showroom floor for display, I puschased mine for $40.

If you want to get creative you can bolt the stand to a pallet and then build 4 walls and a top to cover it all up, just be sure to plug all the open orfices to prevent mice from taking up residence. I had a engine on a stand for 4 or 5 yrs and when it came time to rebuild it, there was a ton of corn, thread, poop inside the cylinders, intake, etc...

I have an engine stand at home that I can use, but I would know the dimensions to use for the engine.

I went to a dealer and he let me have a pallet and what looks like a frame that you can set an engine on, but it was for a V-6. I someone can tell me how much longer a v-8 is I can copy that style and get it home I think.

drill holes in a couple of 2x4's and bolt them to the block like a crate engine or build a wooden crate for it if you have a block or transmission to use as a template. bag the block up and tie the bag at the front of the motor which will be the top when it's bolted to the crate

Do it the white trash way. I normally transport engines by sitting the oil pan inside an old tire. That way, the engine stands upright on a rubber mount, making it pretty easy to transport home in a truck bed.
