Post fuel delivery question

I have a Walbro inline fuel pump I had planned on using on a 4th gen I had a while back, but never got to it. Right now I have a 69 with a 454 and it seems to run out of fuel at the mid/top of 3rd gear. I was thinking of using the walbro, but am wondering what regulator will handle the pressure. It is a 255lph unit at 80 psi. Anyone know which FPR will drop it down to 7-9psi or so for a carbed motor?

The fuel pumps that have high flow numbers that are made for carb applications (like BG fuel pumps) have a bypass regulator built in them and return the unused fuel back to the tank. Barry Grant makes a bypass regulator that is mounted near the carb but I don't know what kind of flow it an handle. Your pump might be a little too much for a carb applicaton.

I would not use a FI pump on a carb... you may be able to get away with it using a good return style regulator, but at verry least you will wear out the pump too soon..

Regulators (for the around 5-15 psi) are not made to take the pressure of 80 psi and drop it to carb range.

I would ebay that pump and get one that was intended for a carb.
