Ah, good old powerpack heads no doubt. These were actually the hot tip.... in 1957.

what would everyone think of a set of vortec heads with maybe a different cam????

I've heard vortecs are the **** for a stock buildup. If you're not trying to hot rod that 327, the stock port sizes and flow rates would be great for a mild street motor. Drop those in with a cam like they used in that article I posted. Just get the flat tappet version with the same overlap and lift.

The Power Pack heads were used in hi perf sbcs in the 50's. In the 60s, the same design was used in low perf versions of 327s. I think they stopped using the Power Packs ~67-68, so if your 327 is a 69, won't have them. You can spot Power Packs at 20 paces due to the large triangle shape cast into front of head.

Vortec heads are killer low buck specials. Great flow. With a cam around 218-224*, would make excellent streetable power. Make camel hump heads look like crap. Check this chart out. Vortecs outflow the best 60s heads (186, 461, 462) at .400 - .500" lift:

Ported 461s win out at .600, but that is meaningless in a street engine.

mine arent power packs, they dont have the triangle thing. the vortecs may be the next thing to come but i really want to just get the car on the road so i will probably just jet some junkyard 1.94's for now. thanks for the help eveyone!!!
