Unhappy Can Someone Please Explain This to Me?

I went to the track last night to get some runs in on my new ET streets. I drove to the track with them and they were fine. I made the first pass at 14 psi. When I got back to the pits the right rear was almost completely flat. I pulled the wheel off aired it back up and poured water on the beads and tread looking for leaks. I found none. I aired them both up to 18 psi and made another run. After the 2nd run back in the pits the right tire had lost 6 psi. Aired them up to 22 psi and made another run and the same tire had lost 8psi. I marked the tire with shoe polish where the stem was to see if the wheel was actually spinning inside the tire but, it wasnt. I drove home with 24psi in both tires and earlier today checked the tire and it still has 24 psi. It seems like it is only loosing air when I make a run at the track. I am lost and dont understand what is happening. Could this be because I am not running tubes? Any ideas?

The only help I can give you is that I have ET streets on some ralleys and now drag lites. Never ran tubes and never had the problem you had. So, I think you can cross that one off your list.

What type of rims are you running? There is a slim chance if you have 2-piece wheels that it is flexing under a hard launch enough to cause a leak. That would explain why it only does it at the track.. just a thought

I'm with Texlurch on the rim idea. Either that or it could be the same principle on the tire, and theres a greater chance of that at 14 psi.

Yeah I concur with the last two posts. I have heard of the same 'two piece' wheel problems myself. Some of the guys would just fill the seam with silicon and their problems went away.

Thanks Guys. I am running 2 piece wheels(Centerline Warriors) so I will give that a look. The tire did finally leak all the way down just sitting in the garage. I have since aired them up to 38 psi and checked for leaks again with soapy water and have not found any air leaks. That was on Saturday and the tire still has 38 psi in it. Sooo...
