Anyone with a Gear Vendor OD?

http://www.drivetrain.com/new_overdr...spdmanual.html

My Dad has been thinking about getting one for his 71 Nova with a Muncie M22. Anyone have experience with these things? All input is appreciated.

For that kind of money I would just put a Tremic in it.

I looked into it before. the gear vendor has the same ratio as the muncie, so it makes it a 5 speed instead of an 8 speed (1 high = 2low, 2high=3low) not that it really matters. The gear vendor units are really heavy. A tremec kit would be cheaper and probably stand up to just as much or more power.

I run one on my TH400. I got it used out of a 97 SS convertible that was pushing 1,125HP through it, running low 9's. He removed it because of the weight. With the non O/D TH400, 25.7" street tires and 4.11 gears I was running almost 4,000rpm at 70 MPH. The GV brought me down closer to 3,000rpm.

Since I was only using for an O/D I never bothered to install all the electronics it comes with. I just need it if I ever get around to spraying the full 300-shot, and traps go over 132mph. It shifts instantaneously under load.
