Nice car looks like mine That thing really launches hard. I actually have a similar setup to yours. I sold my heads and was thinking darts....maybe the 215s. Are yours ported? What kind of fuel pump are you running?

Thanks! The heads are stock out of the box. I may check into porting them when I do another rebuild but, they work great the way they come. As far as fuel pump goes. I run a Holley RED for the motor and a BLUE to supply the nitrous.

Those heads rock. What are the valve sizes? Picked up a blue pump a while ago and was wondering if it was enough to run it with a 100 shot. If not I have a carter 72gph electric for nitrous alone. Could you share your suspension mods? 60ft times? I run 1.8 flat on drag radials and Bone stock 1981 bagged suspension.

I kinda like the heads as you can probably tell since I have a pair on both of the Z's. The valve size on the 215cc are 2.05 int./1.6 exh. I have several friends that had alot of success running just a Holley Blue to supply the motor and a 150 shot. I myself kept burnning plugs when I tried to do the same. Not sure if the fuel system was to blame since we tried everything we could to solve it and never did.

Suspension was completely stock on the run in that picture with 28-11.5-15 ET Streets. 60 ft. time on that run was only a 1.72 and that was with a 100 shot. I have since added Moroso Trick springs and 90/10 drag shocks up front and Competition Engineering traction bars on the rear. I also added a CSI Electric Waterpump with those suspension mods. The cars 60 ft. dropped to a 1.64 on the motor but, spun on my only nitrous run with a 1.59 60 ft. The car is still VERY streetable and I drive it to the track when I race. I know they say not to run the Trick springs and 90/10's on the street but, I did not notice one single differance in the way the car drives, stops, or turns.

Thumbs up

Nice car.

Say, how does the car sit down in the front with those Moroso front drag springs? I too have 90/10's up front (Lakewoods fr/rr) and 50/50's out back. I'm using fully-ported Vortec L31 heads, so the front end weight of my Z should be about the same as yours (iron heads.) Currently, my car has cut front springs, which the previous owner cut just a bit too much off of (2 coils). So I was going to use another set of Camaro front springs with only 1 coil cut.

BTW - my car has gone a 10.77 on the bottle (200 shot) with a 355" and Crane solid-lifter nitrous cam. (11.44 off the bottle). It leaned out on the 10.77 run burning an exhaust valve.

I have a single Holley Blue and regulator to feed my 413" (.060" over 400 small block), but with the 355 nitrous engine the car had dual Holley Blue's.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll stick with the blue and worry about the fuel supply for the nos when/if I get it. I ditched the front sway bar and will probably add a cheap set of slapper bars I found with some 90/10 front shocks. Hopefully that will get me a low 1.7 maybe high 1.6 60'.

Hey Dirt will I see you at mission this year? I'll try and make it out mid way through the season but without a good set of aftermarket heads like I wanted. Probably just go with a set od old camel bumps for now. Should still be good for 12.7s(hoping)

Yep I'm planning to hit the Street Legal Drag nights at Mission this year. Maybe I'll see you out there.

I cut one coil off the Moroso springs and the car sits the same as my other 81 Z that has 1 coil cut off the stock springs.

I'd like my car to sit like that. With one coil cut out, do yo ever bottom out on your headers? Did you lower the rear? If so how?

The only time I hit the headers is if I go over a really big speedbump. If it is a small bump its not a problem. The rear is all factory, I havent done anything to lower it in the rear.
