81 camaro 502 BBC swap?

My friend has 81 camaro with a rebuilt mild 350. Today I found him a roller longblock 502 big block from a boat for $800, So is his car easily big block swapable? So does he have to fabricate engine mounts or can he use mounts from an earlier 2nd gen? Any of you have any pics

I think its pretty well all bolt in stuff. I do know the heater box will be too big and will need to be cut down or replaced. Good price on the engine. THis is a shortdeck engine right? not a talldeck? I doubt a talldeck would fit under a camaros hood .

Eric,

Some '70 - '72 Camaros SS cars came with 396/402 big blocks stock. These will fit all 2gen Camaros. Ask for these mounts if you can.

Small block mounts will also work, but they cause the engine to sit a tad higher in the car and hood clearance is already at a premium in 2gen cars.

If your friend decides not to proceed I would be interested in buying the engine from you and would pay you for your trouble. I am a LI guy also, so I could pick it up. E-mail me: MikeM79@aol.com if interested.

I was gonna suggest waiting a short while for GMs new 572 ci crate to come out. But i see your pulling the engine from elsewhere and for a hell of a lot cheaper, GOOD LUCK
