700R4 in a 2nd gen

Has anyone ever put a 700R4 in a 2nd gen pontiac? Ive got a 78 TA with a turbo 350 that i want to make into a highway car. Im wondering if its possible and what would have to be done. I know the bolt pattern is different so is there someone that makes an adapter for it? would i need a different size drive shaft? thanks in advance

If your T/A has a Poncho motor then you can get an adapter plate from TCI. B&M has a lockup kit that will lock the converter once you're in 3rd gear and push a switch. They also offer a speed sensitive lockup kit that hooks into your speedo cable. I don't remember how much you need to shorten the driveshaft but that information is just a google away. It really isn't too bad a swap. You might be able to regate your stock shifter or just install a console B&M megashifter or something similar for a 4 speed automatic.

Why not consider a 200r4? Same advantages as the 700r4, but its basically a bolt-in.
