69 Camaro Fenders

Anyone know what the differences are between the RS fenders and the regular fenders? Is it just brackets for the headlight assembly? Trying to figure out if I need to buy new fenders for my car or if I can just fab something up!! Oh I am wanting to put the RS grille assembly on my car, Thanks!

most of the restoration companies are making the adaptors for adding rs equipment to standard fenders. they seem fairly cheap. here is a link to ricks first gen parts.

Don't hold me to it, but I think the only difference in RS fenders on a 69 are the bracket holes. You do have to by the bezel brackets though. Classic industries has a whole RS grill kit that you can buy. It has everything you need to convert your grill into a RS grill...however it is rather expensive.

Primer, thanks for the link... that made me a happy man.

Hellbilly, yeah I am going to get the whole grille assembly from classic more than likely. Thanks for the help.

Don't forget that if you want the car to look like an RS, you need to get the RS taillights and separate backup lights as well. The RS used a special headlight switch as well to operate the vacuum controls for the doors. You would also need to get the extra chrome trim for the wheelwells, rear fend louvers and roof drip moldings to make it look correct. So technically it can get very expensive to convert a non RS car to RS. But if all you want is the hidden headlights up front, that can be done quite affordably.

jeff, yeah I am not going for the complete RS look, I am pretty much making the car the way I want it. Its in pieces right now and is an old New England Drag car so I am just working with a pretty much stripped shell. I won't be running any "tags" on it just the Camaro ones. Thanks!

Also don't forget the front valance panel and turn signal lights are different as well.

For the rear section you'll just need to create cut-outs for the backup lights under the rear bumper. (A replacement panel is no longer available.)

If this were a 68 I'd recommend going with the 67 electric setup rather than the 68-69 vaccum setup. However you dont have much of a choice unless you can find a conversion to electric.

Having had both, the vaccum is really a PITA imo.

Pretty much all 69 camaro fenders are RS fenders. You just have to bend the bracket out of the way for the RS headlights. They work just fine. I just had 2 installed a while back.
