I believe the fenders are different.

I take it you don't like the 69 body but do like the 69 RS front end?

I am partial to the 69 body, but I like the 68 RS front. It gives it that blacked out look while the 69 has the see through headlight covers, which do look cool still, just not as mean as a blacked out front end

The 69 front clip (fenders, etc) will bolt to an earlier car but won't look right as the 69 fenders have a horizontal crease in them that matches to the door; the earlier doors don't have the crease.

You can buy the complete kit to convert to the RS hideaway headlights for about $875-$950 depending on who you purchase it through.

Whats a "decent price"? I have one fore sale (in my sig) and you can get a RS front end conversion for around $900

67-68 are interchangable. 69 while similar are not 100% interchangeable. Not only are the front fenders different, the front valences are different, the rear fenders are different (69's have the shark "gills"), the tail panels are different, the doors are different, and the dashes are different. Most of the mechanicals are interchangeable though. (rear, trannys, brakes, engines, etc.)

While a conversion would be possible, it'll look stupid and actually devalue the car. I have seen 67-68 Firebirds with Camaro front clips and 67-68 Camaros with 69 front clips. Yes it can be done, however the market is so jacked right now on all 1st gens, you really won't save much.

If you really have your heart set on a 69 RS, assuming you can't find one in your price range it would be easier and cheaper to convert a plain Jane 69 to an RS optioned car. Most RS panels, parts and components are available from aftermarket suppliers in NOS or reproduction form.
