Alright guys, I need some help building my motor. I've got a 454 BBC thats been punched .3 over. The heads I've got for the motor right now are LS-7 heads that have 2.25 intake valves and 1.88 exhaust valves. The heads flowed 374 CFMs @ .700" (I cant find my flow sheet anywhere, but I do remember that number).
These are some over the components I am wanting to run: JE 13:1 pistons, Manley Alum. rods, 454-R Dominator intake. Although I run 1/8 mile track I would like to shoot for 10.5 in the 1/4 mile; I am wanting to spray the motor also and shoot for a mid 9 sec.
Heres some of my questions:
1.) I know the pistons are on the high side and I'm going to need to run 110. Should I get a lower comp. piston? If so what would be a nice compression for pump gas (93 octane).
2.) I also need to pick out a cam shaft which is a little hard for me. I usually pick camshafts with a 108 LSA in mind and really choppy. How can you pick out a cam shaft that well run well in the 1/8 as well as the 1/4? I now gearing plays a role in that as well...not worried about the gearing at this point. I got that covered.
3.) What kind of carb am I going to need with a setup like this?
I have a lot of questions and I just need a little help to get me moving on this. Thank you a lot for your input!

I ran mid 10's at altitude with a lot less than that.
Compression ratio works with a cam grind. A very aggressive cam won't like low compression and a mild cam won't like high compression.
Before I did my winter projects with a total engine rebuild my engine only had
.070" over 454
Merlin, oval port, 119cc, iron heads with 2.19/1.88 valves
13:1 compression running on alcohol
850 DP carb converted to alcohol on a Victor Jr intake
4340 steel crank and con rods.
Comp Cams 11-613-5 flat tappet cam. Biggest flat tappet you can use before going roller.
1-7/8 primary with 3" collector headers
I managed a 10.5x at altitude with a spun main bearing last year. Race weight was between 3100 and 3200 pounds.
Lots of goodies in the new engine and I expect to easily run mid to high 9's now. No power adders.
Don't worry about building for 1/8 or 1/4 mile. It's all the same. The last 1/8 mile is just a high HP pull in high gear to the finish line. Everything is done in the first 1/8 mile.

Is this a track car only? I am assuming it is, given the aluminum rods. Also, what does the car weigh, what rear gears do you figure to run, tranny, etc. All play into cam choice, also, is it going to be roller or flat tappet cam, hydraulic or mechanical tappets? What intake? Carb choice is going to depend on how fast you want to spin it. Most likely, with the LS7 heads I am thinking 7-7,500rpm?

sorry,i got a new job and have been extremly busy. ill post a little bit later tonight. no this is NOT a street car. Only a fool would put alum. rods in a daily
!! Right now I'm just tring to build a nice motor based off of a 454 block. Of course I'm going to bore it out a little...havent decided exactly how big or anything like that. I'll know by the end of this week. I picked up this block for 25 bucks from a junk yard and if I wasnt boring it out then I would just need to resleeve one cylinder. Looks like the piston scored it or something. I've got the tranny for it too..just need to rebuild that (my prject right now...almost done with it). I'll post later with a little more detail.
