FS: 1997 Pontiac Trans Am

At this point I just want the car gone, I'm into it for more than I'll ever get, so I am just going to cut my losses and send her to a new home. I just want basically what I owe on it...$5500. Come get it and drive her home.

Make me an offer, I'd say I'm a pretty motivated seller. I want her to go to a new home before the snow flies

I'm having no luck selling this on ls1tech (what a surprise) so here we go...

For sale is my 1997 Pontiac Trans Am, powered by the LT-1 5.7 Liter (350 cu. in.) V8.

Some basic information about the car:

Black in color
Gray interior
T-Tops (also comes with T-Top shades)
722XX miles
4L60E Automatic
Clean carfax (which I have NO problems showing to a potential buyer)
Toyo Proxes Tires with TONS of life left

I have owned the car since June of 2011. It was garaged over the winter when I did an extensive list of modifications and preventative maintenance to the car.
  • Rear end flushed and filled with Valvoline Synthetic 75w90 gear oil
  • Cooling system completely flushed and refilled (running green coolant now, NOT dexcool)
  • Transmission completely flushed and refilled, new Wix transmission filter was also installed at this time
  • New Melling Oil Pump with welded pickup
  • New ARP Hardened Oil Pump Driveshaft
  • New waterpump and gaskets
  • New Fel-Pro oil pan gasket
  • New Fel-Pro timing cover gaskets
  • New Summit Racing optispark
  • New Casper's Electronics optispark harness
  • New MSD plug wires With Heat Resistant Sleeves (Over-The-Valve-Cover wires, no more burning plug wires on the headers)
  • New Fel-Pro headgaskets
  • New Fel-Pro intake manifold gaskets
  • New ACDELCO Ignition Control Module
  • New ACDELCO Ignition Coil
  • New ACDELCO Oxygen Sensors
  • New ACDELCO spark plugs
  • New Cloyes Timing Chain and Gears
  • New Differential Cover
  • Calipers painted black

Modifications:
  • Homemade catch-can
  • Coolant steam pipe has been changed to aluminum fittings and twist-tite hose from Summit Racing
  • 160 degree Hypertech thermostat
  • 2500 RPM BDR Torque Converter (BDR is a local, reputable company from South Buffalo)
  • Auxiliary B&M transmission cooler (still utilizes cooler in radiator as well)
  • Autometer ES series Transmission Temperature Gauge, black face that lights up red and matches the gauges. The gauge is housed in Speed Inc bezel in the driver's side vent above the headlight switch.
  • Pacesetter Long Tube Headers, no EGR
  • Pacesetter Y-Pipe
  • SLP Loudmouth Catback Exhaust
  • SLP Cold Air Intake
  • TrickFlow Aluminum Intake Elbow
  • GM LT4 Hot Cam Kit (Cam, 1.6 RR,Springs) Cam Specs: 218 intake/228 Exhaust, 112 LSA NOTE: New Fel-Pro valve stem seals were installed at this time.
  • Spohn Performance Front and Rear Sway Bars (32MM front, 22MM rear)
  • Spohn Performance Strut Tower Bar
  • B&M Racing Deep Transmission Pan (Adds approximately 3 quarts to the transmission)
  • ARP Head Bolts
  • ARP Intake Manifold Bolts
  • UMI EGR block-off plates
  • PCMFORLESS mail order tune
  • Prothane Motor Mounts (will come with Prothane Transmission Mount, which I have not yet installed)

The exhaust is held together with stainless band clamps

I have a binder full of receipts from Summit Racing and Spohn Performance for 99% of the modifications done to the vehicle. It makes me sick sometimes, but the receipts that I have total $3142.57 (gotta pay to play, right?). All of the work was done by me.

I've put ~2000 miles on the car since all the work was done, it runs great, starts every time, and shifts perfect. It recently passed NYS Inspection at the end of June, there are no check engine lights.

Some Things Worth Noting:
  • The ABS, Traction Control, and Brake lights are on on the dash, this is because the ABS and Traction Control are not functional. This does NOT affect the way the vehicle drives or handles at all. I removed the traction control module, and due to this, the ABS does not function.
  • Leaks a bit of oil from the front timing cover, will be addressed over the winter if I keep the car.
  • The AC System has also been removed. I have ALL the AC parts in my garage and have been trying to set aside time to put it back in. Will be done over winter if I keep the car.
  • The cruise control has been removed.
  • Secondary Air Injection has been removed (helps to heat oxygen sensors on start-up, completely unnecessary)
  • The paint on the car is a 7-8/10, it's a 1997 and has some scratches here and there. It has the typical late 90s GM spider-webbing on the front bumper.
  • The interior is in fantastic condition other than some wear in the side bolster of the driver's seat.
  • The headliner was recovered shortly after I purchased the vehicle due to the typical GM sagging headliner issues.
  • The wheels are Plasti-Dipped flat black. It simply peels off and leaves no residue. The wheels can be returned to their factory finish and color in an afternoon.
  • I have all the parts that I took off the car in a box, they will go with the car when it is sold.
  • This vehicle has never been down a track during my ownership.
  • The car HAS NOT and WILL NOT see a winter while I own it.
  • It has been on a "dynomite" dyno, made two pulls and put down 326 hp and 355 lb-ft of torque. I have the dyno sheet and will post pictures.

The car is located approximately 30 minutes north of Buffalo, NY.

If you're seriously interested in the car, send me a PM, I'll be more than happy to provide my phone number.

NOTE: THE VALVE COVERS ARE NO LONGER BLUE, THEY ARE WRINKLE BLACK. I PAINTED THEM AGAIN BEFORE STARTING THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME

Re: FS: 1997 Pontiac Trans Am

Here's some new pictures that I took today, she's a little dirty and dusty from sitting in the garage. I also took a few pictures showing the wear in the driver's side bolster.
