1994 Z28 Vert with 17K Miles

Let me start by saying I am new to this board, although I have checked it out as a visitor before. I am posting my 1994 Z28 here first in hopes that a true Camaro fan will buy it and keep it in the condition it is now - pretty much perfect.

This Z28 is not your ordinary 1994 Z28 Camaro - not even close.
This car has never ever seen a wet road, rain or snow and has always been stored inside and covered. It is loaded up and everything works as it should.
Car has 17,000 +/- original miles on it and is absolutely awesome and nasty at the same time.

Exterior - Bright Red with black top. SLP hood and spoiler - The paint is perfect on the entire car. Includes Corvette ZR1 17" wheels with red Bowtie center caps. Like new Goodyears up front with Nitto 555R's on the rear.
I recently added 1969 Z28 emblems to sides and removed the plastic Bowtie emblem from rear end. No holes drilled anywhere - emblems modded so 3M emblem tape could be used.

Interior - Has also seen full SS upgrade that includes full charcoal leather interior - front seats also heated. Interior is 100% flawless and perfect.

Engine - Car has received a full LT4 engine upgrade including Corvette Gen 2 aluminum heads, matched intake, LT4 camshaft with 1.6:1 roller rockers, extreme duty timing chain kit, 30 lb injectors, Taylor Pro wires and more.
Also has Hooker long tube headers, ceramic coated Y-pipe and SLP exhaust.

Transmission - Trans-Go shift kit, trans cooler and a Vigilate 3000 stall converter. Drive it all day in DRIVE ( its an AUTO ) or shift manually.
Console and shifter are stock from an SS also.

Rear end - Complete Moser 9" rear with 3:73 posi gear set and drive shaft loop for added safety.

Suspension - All SLP components installed including sub frame connectors, adjustable torque arms, panhard bar, anti-sway bar, control arms along with a BMR strut tower brace.

This car is a VERY streetable mid 12-second car that drives and looks absolutely like new and has always been adult owned.
Please note that every one of the modifications done to this car were done professionally with receipts showing in excess of $14,000 being spent on the modifications listed above. I have a complete binder with receipts, installations and even prior Titles to verify mileage is original.

I'm asking $18,000 or open to reasonable offers.
I realize you never get the money back out of mods and if you are looking for an all stock Camaro this car is probably not for you.
If you want a 99% perfect Z28 with nothing but high dollar mods done to it that draws attention where ever you go this is it.

Please reply to mtobak@roadrunner.com
I have a ton of pics that I can send.
I have recently added pics to my Profile / Album of the car

tinypic.com is a good tool

so is dropbox.com, set up a photo gallery that syncs with your computer folders

I'd rather just attach pics to my post but for what ever reason it says " You may not post attachments " I also went to frequent questions section where it tells me to find " Manage Attachments " - I can't that anywhere either?

CZ28.com doesn't allow direct attachments. You have to host the pics on an appropriate site (Photobucket, SnapFish, Google Photos, etc.). Once the pics are uploaded, create an image link by using the "Insert Image" button at the top of the post message screen.

I would like to see pics of you car. It sounds interesting.

Mudbone - I've added about 10 pics to my profile in an album.
Car is pretty interesting - quite a bit of money spent on it and it looks it.
No corners were cut or expenses spared. The only thing that is different from the pics is that I removed the SS badging and added 1969 Z28 emblems to the sides with 3M emblem tape. I still have the SS emblems and also another set of Z28 emblems I'd bought - they are a more modern looking knock off of the 69 style.

If you can't get to my album for some reson send me you e-mail and I'll send direct.

Thoughts / opinions on my asking price............?
I had a hard time coming up with a starting point. Car isn't stock and is modded, but is a vert with 17K orig miles, spotless and has over $14K in hi-quality / expensive mods done.

Re: 1994 Z28 Vert with 17K Miles

Ok, here is the deal as I see it...

First off, it isn't 100% stock... That kills the 17k original miles allure... If it was 17k miles and flogged to all getout, especially on a 'vert, it isn't a draw... No-one can trust just mileage, you have to look at how the car was decked out...

Now, as for the mods, you built a drag car, plain and simple. You backed that up by the fact that you even dare mentioned manual-shifting a 4l60e. Manual-shifting a 4l60e is the surest way to kill it, that is a known fact. Thus, by mentioning it means you did just that and you just verified you flogged the tranny. And it is still a stock trans with a shift kit, regardless, so that just makes it worse...

It is still a stock bottom end, with stock heads (regardless if they are LT4 or not, which you did not specify), which means for all the power you are making with it, it isn't meant for it... High stall, 9" rear, mentioning that you can "manual shift" it, etc... All screams a car that was flogged for all of the 17k miles you have on it...

Basically, mod the car back to stock and you may see $14k out of it with the right buyer, but that is 100% stock never modified, which you can't do, so expect $10k-12k if you put it back to as stock as you can get it... Sell off the mods and you will more than likely get between $14k-$16k total...

The way it sits, worth no more than $12k and that is with the right buyer. Anyone that wants to build a nice cruiser (which is what a low-mileage stock 'vert is for to more mature buyers) isn't even going to consider it for any more than $8k, since there is too much work to do to strip it down and rebuild it "properly" for the purpose. The only allure there is selling off the extras, but, even with that, you have to consider the work involved to do it.

Again, it is worth more as a near stock 'vert with low-mileage, but modded as a drag car you need the right buyer, and then it is worth more like $12k tops...

And I am talking about mature people with real money and looking to buy a car to enjoy, not a kid with a dream... Find one of those "kid racers" with parents with a few bucks and you may get $16k-$18k out of it, but it will be a long wait...

I have 2 '95 f-bodies myself, and am part of the "mature" crowd, thus my observations...

Re: 1994 Z28 Vert with 17K Miles

I guess everyone has their opinion.......and I did ask.
Just some info / comments / facts to your guesstimations on the car.

First off the car has never ever been " flogged " as you'd call it.
You say I built a " drag car " - maybe the parts are or could be used on a drag car and I guess it could be used at the dragstrip if you wanted. Fact of the matter is that this car has never been down the track or even street raced - Not my thing.
Second I may have mentioned manual shifting, but again I have never done that - just mentioned it.

Not sure what all the " mature " struff was about.....I don't think it was directed as a knock - or at least hope it wasn't.
I'm 45 yrs old.....have loved cars all my life - basically a Car Freak.
I'm not sure how old you are, but you know that guy ( not many left these days ) that owns the car in the neighborhood covered up in his garage......it sounds / looks awesome when he decideds to bring it out on perfect spring or summer days......I'm one of those guys.
This car was built because it " could be " and wasn't built to be " flogged " or abused. Back in the day these were called SLEEPERS.......they may look stock but aren't. Half the fun of a " Sleeper " is when you start it up......and people just look and wonder why the car sounds like that. Pretty much that is what all my " under-cover cars " are - Not Flogged pieces of wanna be fast cars. I leave that up to the 20 somethings that think 300+ HP done the wrong way is cool or the rice-burners with the puke-can exhaust sounding ridiculous.

I guess I'm old / mature enough to mod them up, not flog them and pretty much just show or drive them on nice weekends.

Thanks for your opinion............your pricing is pretty much in line with stock vs. mod cars. I agree a stock low mileage car is probably more appealing and will be worth more, esp down the road.
Unfortunatly though you could not have been further off on the true / real condition and treatment this car has seen. Definately not flogged....never has been and never will be.

What I never figure out is how can someone own a car and never drive it?

Garage queens.

I put 200K miles on my Camaro and it still looks good...but nobody wants to buy a car with that many miles even though it's good for another 100,000 or 200,000 miles in it.

Actually, when you have more than one car (say a daily driver and your sports car) and you invest a certain amount in the sports car, it takes consideration to take it out and drive it because of a lot of factors: wear and tear on the running gear (high-HP cars are built better, but still put stress and wear on the parts), risk of an accident (the more you drive it, the more likely someone else will hit it), and, for a lot of us with low-mileage cars, the fact of getting rock chips and such in the paint is an ever-present issue...

It gets even worse when you have one really built-up low-mileage sports car, and another sports car with a little more mileage that you worry less about... You end up driving the higher-milage car more, even with less HP, because you worry less about it...

It is a never ending cycle... Also it is easy when you have a really ****ty beater and a nice sports car, as you will drive the sports car every chance you can get... It is much less of a concern when you have a nice luxery car daily driver (I have a Lincoln MKS) and then when you factor in another sports car with higher miles, it is easy to understand why someone wouldn't drive thier "pride and joy" every day-all the time... That is until the second sports car gets built up as well...
