Fully Restored 1991 Camaro For Sale
Fully Restored 1991 Camaro For Sale
Up for sale is my 1991 Camaro RS 305 TBI. I have spent the last 5 years doing a restoration of the car. The car needs nothing but a driver. The car has a clean Carfax, and can be a daily driver or weekend warrior. If you think that a 1991 RS isn't worth $7,995, then don't bother reading the following
I have over $14,000 in documented receipts (along with other receipts I never added up) tied up in it.
Overall Details...
- 119,000 miles
- Bright red with grey leather interior
- Loaded with power windows and locks, t-tops, leather seats, cruise and A/C (blows ice cold, converted to R134)
- 305 TBI with 5 speed
In the last 12,000 miles, all of the following have been replaced...
-Full tune up
-All fluids changed
-Radiator, hoses, thermostat and fan switch
-New shocks and struts
-Both heads were pulled due to an external oil leak with the RH head. The heads were cleaned up, all gaskets and valve stem seals were replaced
-Both PW motors and one PL motor
-Complete respray in factory bright red, done right. Both bumpers, ground effects, hood and hatch were removed. Included in the respray was a new rear impact bar, new front turn signal lenses, and ALL NEW WEATHERSTRIPPING, including t-top gaskets.
-New windshield and side windows.
-SOLID FLOORS.
-Brand new carpet, headliner, sunvisors and sail panels
-New NOS Lexan t-tops.
-Beautiful new 17" polished American Racing Torq Thrust IIs with 245/45/17 BFG KDWSs.
-BRAND NEW acrylic clear nose protection (aka "clear bra")! Cost me $400.
Mods...
Mechanical:
-Edelbrock Performer TBI aluminum intake, water pump, Elite 14x3 open element air cleaner, TES TPI headers/y pipe, STB
- Hypertech Stage 2 Chip
- Magnaflow 3" stainless exhaust
- Powermaster 200 amp black powdercoated alternator
-Pro 5.0 shifter with red anodized MBA aluminum shift ****
-SFCs and Wonderbar
Electronics:
Note: I lined the ENTIRE CAR with Dynamat before reinstalling the carpet and door panels.
-Alpine CD with iPod cable, hidden in ash tray
-Xtant Amplifier
-Boston speakers
-Eclipse Aluminum 12" sub
-All protected by a Clifford Avant Guard alarm with proximity sensor, digital tilt sensor, accessory power delay and keyless entry/trunk pop. Also has a battery back up for the dual sirens.
So, why am I selling it? As you can see in my sig, I have 2 other third gens. I need this car like I need a hole in my head. I'm looking to replace it with an LS1 SS. I hate to sell it.
PM me with questions. Thanks for reading.

Re: Fully Restored 1991 Camaro For Sale
I had a feeling it would sell quickly. The color, the options, the stick, the mods that were done, and the quality of the work done makes me feel it was worth more than what I was asking...but in this economy, I knew I had to price it reasonably to move it. I sell cars for a living...I know first-hand the worst thing you can do is ask top dollar for something, and watch it rot...
My next car is going to probably be a Trans Am GTA...going to look at a black '88 with only 18k on it on Thursday. I originally sold this to buy an LS1 car...however, my father has 2 ('00 SS, '02 Formula), both with less than 10k miles. I will have the chance to buy both at some point, so why actively seek one now? I've always wanted a GTA to go with the IROC...the Z28 will become what the RS was (the 5k miles a year summer driver), and the downsizing to 3 toys will be complete when my '86 TA sells. I have someone coming to look at it this weekend who claims they are very serious.
Time will tell...
Re: Fully Restored 1991 Camaro For Sale
I actually just changed it once again since the car is no longer "enroute" but is now in my garage
Seriously though, this was one of the best transactions I have done with a car purchase. Your car was EXACTLY as described and it represents the fine work you put into it to make it what it is today.
I drove it home from Jacksonville to Daytona last night with the windows down, crusie set a 70 and the stereo jamming away......what a blast
You have that Dale Earnhardt on the rear window so I drove down Intl Speedway Blvd right past the front door of the track.....
Everything about this car is first class---thanks for all of your help making this a great online purchase. I have bought (4) cars now all online by pictures and communication--sight unseen. I have had great experiences because I have always bought from members of the car community boards. Members do not cheat or lie to others in the group and that is what makes it a positive experience. I had great communication with you and you detailed everything about the car. You sent dozens of pictures and detailed records.
You did leave out just a little bit though....because it's actually nicer than you admitted

Thanks so much for the kind words...it means a lot to me. I've sold cars professionally for 11 years, and I've always felt if you underpromise and overdeliver, you'll have a happy buyer, a smooth transaction and a customer for life, at least on the professional end...I apply the same theology to selling my own personal cars. I wish the people I've been trying to buy cars from felt the same way. From the COMPLETELY resprayed 17k mile '99 SS I looked at last week, to the 18k mile '88 GTA I looked at yesterday that was a serious letdown (ever look at a car that you KNEW used to be absolutely filthy, dinged to hell, and they tried to put some lipstick on it and make it look ok? That was this GTA, to a tee...), I'm seriously coming up empty so far on getting a replacement for the RS...
It was a very, very hard decision to sell it after all the time and work that went into it. It was even harder to help put it in the transporter and watch it leave. But, as I was washing my IROC last night, I was thinking that knowing the car went to a good home made it feel better to have sold it. You and your wife will give the car a good home, and enjoy it. I built that car to drive, not sit in a garage...enjoy the ride.
I appreciate the tribute to Dale, by the way
Every car I've ever owned has had a 3 on it, and it will stay that way as long as I can find a "3" to stick on future purchases. You have no idea how long it took me to find the "Heartbeat of America - Yesterdays Chevrolet" on the back window...glad I bought two of them, so I still have one. I have no idea if those stickers and the bow ties on the side windows are your kind of thing, but I left them after the final cleaning...feel free to peel things off as you see fit
Don't forget to send me a picture of the car with its new FL tag! Drive it the way I did...top off, cruising along, stereo blasting something good!
Jason
