yet another head unit install...

Here's what's goin on. My brother is putting a Sony Xplode HU in his 98 LS1 and neither him nor I have installed one before and now he's stuck. So far, the color coded wires are tied together from the HU to the stock wires using the correct harness for his model. But there are still a couple wires from the new harness unused. One is for illumination, the other is for dimmer and then there is a ground connection that needs to be made and I believe there is a light blue wire that is also unused. If anyone has a quick rundown on how things are supposed to go down while installing a HU it would be appreciated. I know this isn't a tough job but we've never done any stereo stuff and I did the smart thing and had my car done professionally for my whole system so I'm not much of a help.
Thanks ahead of time.

Re: yet another head unit install...

you will need to make connections to the ground (black) and then also the amp turn on (blue)

Is the amp wire connected to another specific wire?

not sure exactly what your asking.

the amp turn on wire, blue and white from the deck (or just blue depending on the stereo) shoudl connect to the blue wire on the adapter harness.. if you trace this pin it shoudl go to a pink wire in the factory harness.
this will turn the factory amp on

Well the HU is out of the car now with all the wires stripped and ready to be re-attached. A fresh start I guess. So heres what I got out this so far: Attach the ground, connect the amp wire and basically it should all be color coated for all the other wires? I haven't looked at the thing in a while so I don't remember exactly where we were when he disconnected everything but we'll try again.
