XM Radio Antenna

I just bought my new Alpine HU and got the XM Stuff free with it. I have everything hooked up and ready to go. The instructions say to mount the antenna to a metal surface such as the roof. It is the small magnet antenna that is about 2" by 1.5". Well i have t-tops and the only places on the car that are good places and metal are the hood and the rear quarter panels. These didnt seem like good places to mount it. i was wondering where other people have mounted it and if mounting it on the dash would work, even though it is strongly recomended not to.

Re: XM Radio Antenna

Actually I bought an antenna that sits loosely on the dash board. The reception is not quite 100% but sure makes me feel better than mounting it on the hood

Re: XM Radio Antenna

I mounted mine on the back hatch window with double sided tape. Works great
