Wiring my new sub
Wiring my new sub
I just got a new Kicker solobaric S10L5. I was running my last dual coil sub in parallel. It was a dual two ohm as is the new one. Since my amp wants to run at 2 ohms in mono, I need to run the new one in parallel as well. The last one came prewired in the box. I don't wanna pay a shop to do two wires! How do I wire it up in parallel? Do I link both positives and both negatives? Thanks

If your new Kicker is indeed dual 2 ohm...... and you want to wire them together in parallel..... you will have a final nominal load of 1 ohm. And if your amp is only stable to 2 ohms mono, you are going to run into protection problems.
But you say your old sub was also dual 2 ohm???? And are you sure they we're wired in parallel??? Something is a miss. Maybe your amp is stable to 1 ohm mono???
To wire your sub in parallel, connect the two negatives together and run them to the negative output on the amp. Do exactly the same thing for the positives....

Survey sez... I'm retarded. My amp wants to run at 4 ohms. The last sub was wired in serial. I don't know what the hell I was thinking. By the way, Installed the new S10L5 today in place of the S8L7, Very happy. Now if I can just shut the plastic interior panelling up....
