opinion on monsoon please
opinion on monsoon please
i guess my mid base speakers are gone. audio shop tells me they can't replace them cause of the 2ohm 4ohm thing. so my problem is wether to find some or redo the whole system. opinion needed is on which way to go. i'm not a sound maniac but i do want decent quality. if you recommend replacing the whole system can it be done right for under 1,000? if so what brands on speakers amps that sort of thing?
thanks for the help

You've got 1000 to spend, I would say don't replace the factory crap with just more crap. As when anything breaks, this is a good time to upgrade. They're right that you can't really replace those speakers with normal speakers because of the ohm differences.
The 6" speakers that are in the rear are actually "subs" for the Monsoon system. I'd say simply don't worry about them. If you replace them, you can replace them with some after market speakers and you can power them off the deck directly (I'll keep going because you won't be using the monsoon amp any more.
Go for a decent sub ~ $150
Get an amp to power it ~$200
Put it in a Milhouse box ~$210
A decent aftermarket deck ~$250
A wiring harness and a mounting kit ~$20
Cabling and other stuff, ~$50
That brings you up to about $880
The front speakers will continue to work with the aftermarket deck. If you want to replace the back speakers you can do so with the remaining money.
I think that should give you some pretty good sound. It should be pretty easy for you to add on another amp for the front speakers when the time comes. If you plan to do that, run bigger wires than what you "need" to run the sub amp. Run 4 guage power.
