Where to put subs in a Convertible...
Where to put subs in a Convertible...
Well im going to be picking up a Trans Am Convertible here soon, and right now i have a t-top and i have 2 10's that im bringing over from it. But ive been searching and ive seen that there is one of 2 places to put subs...either in the trunk or take out the backseats. Now i have no problem taking out the backseats, i hate carrying around more than one person anyways. But i dont want it to look like crap either if i make me a custom thing to put my subs in back there. Has anyone here custom made a box in the back to hold subs? How hard is it to do? If anyone has any pics or anything is appreciate it.
Re: Where to put subs in a Convertible...
I built a box for a Firebird convertible that housed a 15" Adire Tempest sub. It sounded quite good.
The biggest problem you'll run into for building a box to sit in the trunk, is the trunk opening. If you can get it in the trunk opening, you should be fine.

This might help if you go with removing the rear seats. It's in the APPEARENCE section

Best solution I've seen, and what I am going with. Just popping a normal bandpass or whatever in the trunk doesn't get sound into the cabin, drives the trunk lid, sounds ghetto.
A bandpass ported low to sneek under the top even when lowered is by far the best option.
However I realize some people wouldn't mind the trunk approach and this brute force approach would probably be louder. Just my preference.

I didn't want to lose the trunk or the back seats, or block the space the top drops into:
Convertible Stealth Sub
The box was professionally tuned, so it hits pretty hard.
