Turn signal flasher issue

My turn signal flasher unit burnt out a few months ago, I went to my local parts store and got a new one over the counter.

After I installed it I noticed that the clicks were louder and the unit operated at a slightly faster frequency than before. Needless to say it burnt out after about 3 months.

I got a replacement and am now having the same problem with the frequency, I'm pretty sure it will burn out soon.

I've got the old units a little mixed up here but I think this is right:

The original unit was: 12V 21W x 4
The replacements I'm getting are: 12V 21W x 2 + 5W

Is this my problem? I'd get the proper replacement if I could, but it seems I can't and I don't really want to keep paying for new units every time it decides to burn out.

Is there anything I could do to protect the unit a little from overload and also to maybe slow the frequency of flashes down a little?

You can contact dal or jason for a proper replacement.

Re: Turn signal flasher issue

You can have the one I removed from my '99 TA. I replaced it with a heavy duty flasher when I installed my sequential turn signals.
