Switchin out my XM for an iPod...some help please?

Ok, so i have the stock monsoon stereo in my car. when i bought the car it came with an XM radio already installed. the XM adaptor has a head phone plug and a AC adaptor plug. now if i plug the ipod into the headphone plug AND have the xm radio ON, itll work. however if the XM is OFF the ipod wont play through the speakers. hopefully im being clear in my description

now my question is, is there an easy way to fix this to get an iPod to work, or do i have to buy somethin else?

thanks guys =)

This is the easy way.

This is a slightly better way.

This is the best way.

I don't know anything about this XM Adapter gizmo you have -- can't help you there.

And if you're installing in something other than an F-body, there may be an even better way here or here.

The reason it only works with the xm pugged in and on is because the xm modulator only turns on if it sees the xm reciever plugged in so it will allow any audio input it just has to know when to be on.

Tonight's one-upsmanship ... this is the best way and lets him use his both XM and his iPod.

And according to the comments posted about the Monster gadget, it appears that it may not be a slightly better way.
