cliffs notes from him...
Heres a briefing of the problems. My old T3 took a dump so I installed a GT3071 with a header. It ran like crap once I put the new turbo on. It acted like the cylinders were getting so much fuel, as to the point where they would flood out and not ignite. The computer aslo wasnt switchin from open loop to closed and visa versa. Over a weeks time of troubleshooting, it started running better day by day. It just snapped one day and ran perfect. I never made any major changes to it before it started running good. I swapped in a new computer and large VAM, and over a 2 day period it started running worse until it went back to how it was when I first did the swap. But, it still changes loops as its supposed to....for the most part. I did everything I could to go back to the setup when it was running well, but nothing changed. Its only made it slower. Nothing made a positive difference in power. I checked everything. Dropped the exhaust to void out a clogged exhaust. Replaced every sensor that would have anything to with this. Tested the o2, VAM and TPS voltages. Did a leakdown test, compression test and pressurized the intake for leaks. I checked ECU grounds and pinouts. The list goes on. Half of the crap under my hood has been replaced in a hunt to get this thing running right. I came across a hint tonight. I checked the timing and monitered the RPMs using an engine anilyzer. For some reason, the car isnt advancing timing as it should. The timing makes a sudden jump +18* once the revs are raised above idle and stays there until 3000rpm. At 3000, it drops back -18*. So Ive wired it down to not advancing the timing. I now have to figure out what would cause that. If the TFI crapped out, then that car would probably just stop running. It COULD be the PIP sensor. Or, it could be more involved. Im still diagnosing. The car is going into school with me tomorrow to work on it some more (Im schooling to be an auto tech.)
any help is appreciated!!

Re: help with buddies merkur
This is not an appropriate topic for Advanced Tech on an F-Body board. If you'd like me to move it to "The Lounge" in an attempt to troll for info, send me a PM.
