Sub enclosure

Hello all,

I was thinking about getting a subwoofer, as I'm getting sick of the distortion in my speakers at louder levels. I didn't want to suck up all the well space in the hatchback, so I was looking at thunderforms. I was wondering if there was a more cost effective way of doing this.

Is that price for the loaded or unloaded version? It doesn't specify. Subthump makes outstanding boxes. Can't go wrong there. If you are looking to go real cheap, build it yourself.

Eh... if it was 200 or under, it was the unloaded price. Still pretty high.

Thank you for the information. If you don't mind, can I ask you one more question?

Should I get the 8 inch or 10 inch sub? I was planning on using a Sony brand, but I'm not sure what the specs mean. Could you take a look? 8 inch sub or 10 inch sub?

If I don't mind? Hell no I don't mind man! That's why we're here!

Go for the 10". What amp do you plan on using? Any reason you decided on Sony? Just a note, Sony doesn't have a very good rep in the car audio industry. How much you looking to spend?

The subthump.com boxes are outstanding. Drop in an Alpine Type-R 10", throw about 300 watts to it, and away you go.

Well, I decided on Sony because that is the model of CD player I have in the car. They both use Xplode, or whatever that is, and I can snage them for about 50 bucks. Other than that, no reason. I was also going to check a local pawn shop that specializes in subs to see if I can find one that will fit in that little nook.

Also, I have the plain old standard equipment that comes with the '97 firebird (v6, if that matters), so I'm unsure of how much power I can even give the thing. On that subject, does the firebird come with an amp, or will I have to get one of those as well? If so, where the heck do they go?
