speaker wiring guage q. help please!!

i am running a fosgate 750x. its pushing 187 X 4 rms @ 2ohms. i have the the left side 6.5 speakers (front and rear) as the left front amp channel and the right side 6.5 speakers (front and rear) as the right front amp channel. the rear channels are driving 2 8" 2 ohm pioneer subs. i have 4 guage wire on the battery / ground and 4 guage wire on the battery / alternator. i ran 8 guage wire to the amp directly from the battery post and grounded the amp locally with an 8 guage wire.

now for the speakers. i ran 12 guage wire for all of them. i put the 12 guage right to the subs so no problem there. i am concerned about the 6.5's though. i have the 12 guage wire to the speakers but the wire coming off the crossover (the input from the amp) is smaller like 16/18. the crossover runs the same small 16/18 to the speaker. the speakers are infinity kappa 6.5 3 ways up front and 2 ways in the back. am i wasting my money by running the 12 guage wire since the crossover is only 16/18?? should i just take out the infinity crossover and put capacitors in there place?? should i just butt splice my 12 guage stinger into the 16/18 guage crossover wire?? should i pull out the stinger 12 and get some 16 to better match the crossover?? what do you guys think?? thanks.
