Security light???

Hello all
I just installed the Crimestopper CS-2015FM2 in my 2000 Z. Everything works even the remote start, but my security light on my gauges stays on (a yellow light that spells out "security" just to the right of my speedo). I never disconnected the factory alarm, just disarmed it and never touched it again. What does this light mean exactly and should i "disconnect" the factory alarm, is this possible, and what, where, how do i do it. I know that when i have my doors open the factory LED in the middle of the dash comes on, but that happened pre-install of new alarm. Please help. Thanks.

Security Light on means your VATS has crapped out for one reason or another... Basically it means the VATS system is disabled (and your car is one screwdriver away from being started)... Not that it takes much for thieves to nab the car anyway, but the VATS at least deters stupid kids and joyriders...

Haha good luck... It could be anything from a bad chip in your key, to a bad VATS module... theres been articles written on this if you search google for GM VATS.

Well my security light ONLY comes on during a remote start. If I enter the vehicle and turn the key normally, this does not happen. Any idea what the problem is??

i dont know much about this whole vats thing but i would think the security light comes on during a remote start cause the chip in the key was never inserted into the ignition during start....i wish i knew where my spare key was so i could try that key maybe thats it....cause my chip is kinda loose in the key.....i dont wanna spend another $30 to get a copy made

Sounds like you need to bypass vats. Heres a page that should help you bypass this.
http://www.catchacall.com/vatts.htm

Good luck

If the car starts I wouldnt bypass vats..

Why make it easier to steal your car???? They are easy enough to steal as it is!

As for the light coming on during remote start thats exactly why, te VATS is being bypassed so security light is on..

with the vats system you need to place a resistor on in the wiring for the remote start and vats system that closely matches the resistance value of your vats system. check out www.the12volt.com for information about VATS systems.

I used the CS-GMATA II to bypass the VATS on the car, it is a small box that Crimestopper makes with a small screw on it and by turning the screw changes the resistance level. I measured the resistance of the chip in my key using a meter and matched up the value to the GMATA II, yet the light still comes on.
