Rockford fosgate 6.5 speaker install

Bare with me, I am stupid about speakers and stuff.

I disconnected the old speaker and there is just the male end of the clip that connected the crappy speakers left. Well.....thats it. What next ? The directions are absolutely no help.

Thanks

I know there are some places that sell clips so you can just clip it in to your factory clips but if you don't care, just cut the wires and connect your own female connectors and clip them to your new rockfords and you're good to go.

you can pickup a speaker harness from any retail shop that does mobile installation. otherwise cut the clip and wire up the speaker to that, just make sure you got the +/- right.

To determine which stock wire is + and which is - look at the connector on the factory speaker. The wires are labeled A & B. B is the positive connection.

You really should run all new speaker wires though.

does it really matter to get the whole + - situation matched up... i just cut the factory speakers off, spliced the new wires, and connected them (didn't look to see which is +/-), and they sound great... am i missing something here? and mine are RF 6.5" speakers too...

Yes it matters. If you have the speakers out of phase with each other the bass frequencies will be weak due to cancellation.
