hi lately my moms 95 z is having some problems.first she had the security light come and still is,now the radio wont go off when you get out of the car and lock it and walk away it just stays on.If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it.thanks

 

when i had this problem it was my ignition switch. It wasn't adjusted correctly and if i would turn the key back to the off position real quick it would engage the accessory mode. If that happens again with the key out of the ignition try grabbing the lock cylinder and turning it back toward the start position if the radio goes back out then you have to much play in your cylinder or in the ignition switch linkage.

 

there is a little switch somewhere on the door that is pushed closed while the door is closed and spring loaded to push open when the door is open. This is what controls the radio (actually all of the power) turning off and on when the door is opened. I don't know exactly where it is but I'd check by the hinge and of not there by the latch mechanism. Check to see that its not stuck.

 

My car does this all the time as well. I had my door taken off and put back on to fix accident damage to the rear quarter panel. Ever since then, it's been hit or miss. My interior light never comes on when I just open the driver door. I looked around the hinge the for a little button I used to see on my families oldmobiles, never saw what I was looking for. It's gotta be around the latch somewhere, but I have no idea what it looks like. Anyone have any pictures, or ideas how to fix?

That switch is not located in the same place on Camaros. There is nothing but sheet metal in the area you circled on my car. Camaros and Firebirds are apparently different in this respect.

Can any camaro people point out the location of that switch?
