Re: Radar Detectors?

95% of all cops don't use instant on anyways. They leave it on constant and you can pick them up miles away. Even when they do use instant on, unless you are the only one on the street, usually you can detect the pig before he's aiming at you. Laser is more of a threat, but like the instant on, if he's aiming and firing at others, and you have a good detecter like a V1, you'll still be able to know where he is before he gets you.

My V1 has saved me more times than I can count. The only ticket I have recieved in my Z was when I was street racing 95LT1Z28. And even then because the cop never used his radar (hench I had no warning) I ended up getting out of the ticket in court.

Trust me, V1 is the way to go.

Re: Radar Detectors?

Thats just great, i kinda figured that...........so where can you find said police scanner? Is it that thing from (please forgive me) F&F when you actually here police radio? Thats still sort of a guessing game because i can safely assume all squad cars are not just going to be giving out their location. More like say what calls are being reported in right? I might just have to pass on the radar then :*(

Re: Radar Detectors?

I've got some realatively cheap one that came with my car, wired in correctly and all.. I'd like a V1, but for where I live, the cops just park on a hill with radar, so you can pick them up a long way away...
Good enough for me...

Re: Radar Detectors?

I have had 3 different detectors.
Cobra, Escort 8500 X50, and of course the V1.
I knew very little about detectors when I bought the cobra. I thought "how different can they be?" and bout the cobra on ebay for 100 bucks. My friend Walter with a V1 looked and it and said "why are you doing this to me?" I said it works great. Then it said Office Max was Ka...... I sold it on ebay for the same price. Then I bought the escort X50 and that worked great, I had it for about 3 months, never let me down. Then Walter's car went in the shop and he let me try out his V1.... I bought one the next day. Once you've had arrows you don’t go back.

Re: Radar Detectors?

V1 hands down are the best. If anyone is interested in a killer deal on a used one, I am selling mine. I have had it for 3 or 4 years now and it has saved me more times than I can remember. I have kept it in perfect condition since day 1, and still have everything it came with, some still in their original packaging. It is available for one upgrade but after inquiring from the people at V1 they told me it would not be worth the money to upgrade it because mine was still pretty much top of the line. I only asking $310 (firm price) shipped. Normally I would not ever consider selling it, but I need to pay off some bills I have acquired from my blower motor and I need the $. At $100 less than a new one, I believe this to be a great buy for someone. I have pictures available on request for anyone who may be interested.

Cool Re: Radar Detectors?

I have a Vector 985 from Beltronics and it has never failed me. Out here in Nevada we have some pretty wide open expanses and it has picked up Ka at several miles away. The troopers and other law enforcement here don't use laser because you have to be sitting still to use it and they are always on the go.
