Question about '94 Firebird Radio

My daughter's Firebird's casette/radio display is blank, you can sort of read it if the sun is hitting it just right. So I decided to check eBay for a replacement.
So my question is; are other GM model radios compatible or do I need to stick with 4th gen Fbody's? I asked because of the steering wheel controls.

It would be nice to replace it with a CD/radio instead of cassette.

If I recall correctly, Pioneer does offer an adapter to link steering wheel controls to their head units, if you're considering going aftermarket. otherwise you'll probably have to find a 93-96 F-body radio that is equipped for the steering wheel controls in order to still use those controls.
