Post Another concept:

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but this screams "2004 GTO!!!" at me louder than anything I've seen by Pontiac lately. If they built it like this, I couldn't pass one up.. it'd be one heck of a stopgap! I could picture it approaching from a mile away in a mirage. There would be no question about its identity. Any good or bad comments are welcome.

No offense Kizz, but I hate those ideas for 2 reasons.

1) It has those angular lines like the Aztec, Vibe, and Pirhanna. I hate those styling elements and I don't like those cars.

2) IT DOESN'T HAVE A SPLIT GRILL!!!

I see a lot of Dutch's design, but yes it HAS to have a Pontiac split grill....I'd prefer even a hint of a "nose" too.

Not real sold on that type of ram air hood either......maybe a little more subtle and softer in design.

Maybe if the grill/headlight area was put on the silver concept car pic then maybe change the hood and bingo, maybe.

Seen it. Mitsubishi RPM 7000. And what's with the face? Pontiacs are supposed to look aggressive, not ticked off.

Thumbs up

thanks for feedback

It's sort of odd because the headlamps are totally retouched by hand and the reflections are impossible to get right.
It does look a bit pissed, but the '64 model had the same expression and that's where I got the idea. The hood line lends itself to that look. The '68 - '69 with stationary headlamps had it to a lesser extent.
Only so much can be done with the body we KNOW we're getting. I'll work on a more true hood, split grill, nose, etc.

This proves to me that grafting a more expressive nose on the Monaro would not have netted the desired effect.

I really, really like Dutch's drawing....but it's obvious to me that, that would have required a total reskin.

Cool

I like the grille, although it's not Pontiac grill. Particularly I REALLY like the line going across the center of the grille - it looks very good, including the pontiac emblem in the middle.

I don't like the hood, actually. Needs some refinement and not so angular, because it reminds me of Azztek.

I also like the headlights, although I wouldn't want them to be as pointy on the sides, but good overall. Reminds me of new headlights used on BMW 3-series.

Oh yes, the red wheels look very good on the car. I like also the clean look of the back, yet a back that maintains its muscle look.

You brought back a two year old post to say that?
