Proper install
Proper install
Can someone tell me the proper way to install the rear speakers. Mine rattle the mounts, work themselves loose and require constant fiddling. The guy who installed them obviously did a half job. I want to do it one more time only. How do I lock them down and cushion against the mount? Thanks.
Re: Proper install
The rear seat speakers are factory subwoofers (HAHAHA yeah right, subwoofers). I'm assuming they've been replaced? The factory speakers are mounted with screws that screw into speed clips. What did the previous owner do?
Re: Proper install
I changed the system to a pioneer head and infinity speakers. The rears just have never set right. They get loose from the exhaust vibration and I turn the screw but they never feel like they get tight. It helps or did. Now they are rattling the mount and panel like crazy. Did I get them too tight? I just don't think the install guy did a thorough job. If they had little rubber pieces or something to stop the rattles maybe? I don't know.

My kickers did the exact same thing. What I ended up doing is using washers. That way I can tighten the screws down as hard as I want without the screw slipping out of the speaker mounting hole (which is a open U shape, not a closed circle). My speakers havent moved since. But before they were rattling like crazy no matter how tight I made the screws. GM's oversize sucks.
