problems with my CAP
problems with my CAP
Well i just got my new 2.4 Farad cap in the mail and the stupid morons from UPS dropped it and the charger thing broke. The manual dont tell the value of it. It does not have any colors on it, and all it says is... "Charging Bulb" so when I take the fuse out, and the cap is wired, is the charger hooked up to the cap on the positive and negitive side, or between the positive. Please let me know. And can you do it with out the charger?
The cap i have is digital and shows that it has a 13.4 charge, so when the bass hits it goes down to like 8.2 or so. it has an adjust thing on it, i put it up at 13.5 and it stays that it has a 13.4 charge, so i thought that it had a ful charge.......im stumped!!

I have no idea what the heck you're trying to say.
Charging bulb? Is it actually part of the cap or is it something separate from the cap. Most manufacturers include a small resistor for charging the cap. Although a light bulb will do the same thing.
Took out what fuse?
To charge the cap connect the + from the battery to the + on the cap. Connect one end of the bulb (or resistor) to the - on the cap. Connect the other end of the bulb (or resistor) to the - of the battery. If you're using a bulb wait for the bulb to go out. When it does the cap is charged. If you're using a resistor you can either let it set for a few minutes or connect a volt meter across the cap's leads and watch the display on the meter as the cap charges. When it gets up to 12v the cap is charged. Once the cap is charged do NOT allows any metal to short across the caps leads. If you do it will throw a HUGE spark and the cap will have lost it's charge.

well the resistor broke, and i tried to do a few things that other ppl told me, like just connecting it, and letting it spank, and it will be charged, and a few things like that. But it shows that is has a full charge.
I have a power acustik 1600
power acustik 2.4 farad cap.
4 gage power to cap and amp
4 gage ground to cap and amp
80amp in-line fuse
and and the amp uses 3 - 25 amp fuses
brand new alt and brand new batt
its does it at a moderate volume, it gets one good hit, and then goes way down and never gets back up above 8-9 volts, but if i trun the volume down it goes right back up.
when the bass hits, and the voltage on the cap dips, it doesnt come back up after the bass note is done.

That almost sounds like a charging system problem...
Although it could be the way that you have the cap wired too. How do you have it wired??
It should go from the + on the Battery to the + on the Cap, the from the + on the cap to the + on the amp. The - on the Cap should go to ground, and the - on the Amp should go to the same grounding point as the cap.
