Power wire to battery?

Hi all,

Is it acceptable to have more than one power wire to the battery? I've already got power for my system to the (+) and have a HID kit coming in that also needs to be powered to the same terminal. Is it OK to put them both on there? Would I need something between the two rings terminals or is it OK if they touch?

Thanks.

It would be fine if they touched, but you might want to look into a dedicated terminal that has several outputs to save it looking like crap. You also get better power transfer and a much neater/easier-in-the-long-run installation.

I actually hooked my Stereo Power into the junction box on the passenger side of the firewall.

If you follow the main power from the battery, you'll see it goes to a red oval capped junction box. If you pop the cap off it's realy easy to add wires on top of that rather than direct to the battery.

if you are running a lot of aftermarket electronics, upgrading the big 3 to some 4 gauge may be beneficial to you.

this is fine for a low-power stereo, but the wire from the battery to this box is only a 8ga which is not suitable for larger stereos/battery drains.

I do suggest doing the "big" three as was stated, and upgrading all your battery power/ground/alternator wires to 4Ga if not larger.

Also getting an adapter for the battery such that multiple items can be attached; or get one of the "large" stereo type fuse holders and use that to distribute power accordingly.

I don't think I'd term my system as high power as its only a 80.4 and 300.1 amps hooked up.

As for the adapter...any help on this? The ground wire for the HID kit has a 1/4" power ring which won't fit on the negative terminal adapter that I found (has a thread diameter of .308).

Thanks.

Just hook into the Junction Box I mentioned

I'm running pretty much the same amp wattages with ZERO ISSUES

While you can spend the time to upgrade all the wiring, it's not needed for that wattage. I also have my amps in the trunk, with power and ground distribution blocks there rather than up front. 1 power wire to the trunk and that's it. Then Grounds to the body right there.
