new system

I plan to spend about $1500 on my new system. I want to get two 12" brahma subs, and two rockford 1000bd amps. The amp put out over 1000w @ 2 ohms, so I could run one to each sub right. The subs have dual 2ohm voice coils, so what ohm would they run best at, 2 or 1, or 4? Not really sure how that works. Does anyone have any good suggestions on what brand I should go with?

So if I run the bramhas in series they will be four ohm, right? Is there anyway to make them run at two ohms, like wiring them parallel?

A sub with dual 2ohm VC's can only be run at 4ohm (VC's in series) or at 1ohm (VC's in parallel).

Ls1 Rulz is correct. Each Brahma can be wired to either 1 ohm or 4 ohms. The bd1000 is stable to 1 ohm but will still put out the same power. At 4 ohms it will only put about 500WRMS. Just curious.... why the bd1000? Getting a good deal on them? Why not the Adire/Ampman Revolution? Cheap, tons of features and more power. Check em' out at www.ampmanaudio.com $359 shipped. 1500+WRMS at 1 ohm. You want to spend $1500 on the subs and amps? Or on the WHOLE system?

Thanks for the reply. I will end up spending about $1500 on the bass part of the system. Not head unit and regular speakers.

I have heard good things about mempis, but I will look into the ones you mentioned. I really want an amp that puts out what it says it does, unlike kenwood and stuff like that. Any other suggestions.

The Revolution will be hard to beat for the $$, but you can look into the Memphis 1000d, crossfire 1000d, DEI 1100d, cadence A7HC, Avionixx 1200.2 class T.

You might want to consider throwing in a couple caps in there also

With two 1k+ amps he's gonna need a little more then a cap or two. A H/O alt. is in order here.

Okay, now I am looking into this again after my unexpected engine death. I am still considering the rockford 1001BD amp, or maybe the memphis 1000W amp. Does the rockford amp have to be at 14.4V to get the full 1000W?

Also, where would I get a high output alternator, and how much would it be? thanks
