Need sources for box-covering vinyl
Hey all,
I'm finishing up my own rear hatch box design, and I'm at the stage where I need to decide what to cover it with. I don't like carpet, and I suck at painting of any kind. I want to get some of that heat-formable vinyl (naughahyde?) to cover it with. What kind of stores can you get this stuff at? I haven't had much luck yet. Also, what kind of adhesive will I need to apply it to the MDF? And finally, how expensive is the stuff I'm talking about, because I have no idea. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not sure about heat forming but this is what I am using on my system when I re-do it in the spring maybe this will help:
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/RTEVC all you need is some super90 spray adhesive to make it stick and be very careful when cutting, I always leave some extra vinyl a the seams to trim up when it dries andhas been stretched. Good luck!
PS. what kind of design did you go with?

Basically, my box is a redesign of the Q-logic box for 2 12" subs. I drew up the plans in Adobe Illustrator, and i have been test fitting it after every piece is added, so far so good. Only thing I'm not sure of is how many cubic feet I'm yielding with this design. Q-Logic claims .85 per sub, yet the standard Subthump box is 1 cubic foot per sub. I'm horrible with math, so I don't think I'll be figuring it out any time soon. As far as the vinyl goes, that is exactly what I am looking for, but I hoping to buy it locally, not online. Think a fabric store would have something like that? Other ideas?

As far as the vinyl goes you may be better off buying online, fabric stores are expensive (in my experience). For figuring cubic feet use NAOS box software, try this link http://tools.autoaudio.com/spkcad/
or do a search there are alot of desing utilities for making boxes. If none of that works get the measurements and go to one of those math homework help forums and have someone do it.
