Question Need some basic stereo help

Hey guys, Im using a pioneer 50x4 head unit and I want to get some good pioneer 6x9s for the rear of the car. I havent decided what kind of speakers i want for the front, but I dont have much room up there, so I know whatever I get will be small. Anyway heres my questions:

1. If Im using my 50x4 head unit and 6x9s rated at 220 w , will I need to use an amp? Im not looking for massive amounts of bass or anything, I just want clarity and volume.

2. What kind of smaller speakers are recommended for the front of my system?

3. also, should I be using boxes with the 6x9s? They will be mounted beneath the rear deck in the trunk.
thanks,

Gordon

You wont need an amp to run those speakers. They are probably rated 220 watts peak power. When buying speakers you always want to look at RMS power, which is continous power. An amp will improve your sound alot, but they can be expesnive with all of the wiring. Pioneer makes an good 4way 6x9 that sounds sweet if you have an amp powering them. If your not going to mount them on your rear deck, then you will need boxes for them. As far as front speakers go, I would imagine your car would have come with 6.5" speakers.
