need help choosing subs

I am going to get subthump well enclosure for my 94z and I dont know what subs would be the loudest/ deepest bass/ hardest hitting 12's for not a lot. I dont want to spend more than 3-400 on both subs.

Re: need help choosing subs

Is it a ported or sealed box? What are you mainly looking for SQ or SPL?

um.. im not sure. im guess SQ is sound quality and SPL loudness maybe?
I really just want it to hit really hard when I turn it up a lot and when its not way up, I just want it to be a quality sound.

Re: need help choosing subs

There is many to choose from.
Im into sealed boxes and my main goal is Sound Quaility that hits hard when needed.
From personal experience i can recommend TC Sounds, JL Audio, and Soundsplinter. You really can't go wrong with any of those. They have great entry level woofers and high end stuff is excellent.

From reading around the net Apline Type-R suppose to be good at a decent price.
Kicker L7 Solo Barics from what i read Pound in ported boxes....

Here is some general pricing. Priceing includes shipping

380$ (2) JL AUDIO 12W3v3 12W3v3-4 12 ebay

265$ (2) ALPINE 12" TYPE R SUBS ebay

Everyone has there favorite brands, the more people you talk to, the more optinions you will get.

The best bet is to go to an audio store and check out the different subs for yourself.

good luck

Re: need help choosing subs

Since you're getting my box, I can make you a nice deal on some eD 12s that will slam hard

Look up the exact dimensions of your enclosure.
Decide if you want ported (loud) or sealed (controlled).
Set a price range per woofer you like.
Make a list of brands you like.

Work through that list of price/brands until you find the first one that matches the enclosure.

A $100 sub in the right enclosure will outperform a $300 sub in the wrong box.

I have decided not to upgrade my system until january. for christmas I want to do some little things like, window tint, keyless entry, billet grille, new emblems and camaro letter inserts, clear turn signals and lense covers... things like that.

I do need help tho. I have a ps2 I'd like to put in my car but I need help with the screen. I dont know what to buy. I thought about visors but thats a little to close to my head. I dont know where to mount one. I have a nice pioneer head unit and I dont want to change it out for one with a screen. any ideas?

Well, if you have any questions on teh subs ask me, I know quite a bit in that area.

But since you changed your mind and contempt on screens..lets see. What type of Pioneer HU do you have? I have a brand new AVH5700-DVD for sale soon (mine broke and warrenty sending me a new one)...6.5" Pioneer touchscreen I will be selling for $600. But if you are contempt with your HU your only option really is visor monitors. The cheap plastic ones can be had for $200 on ebay, I had bought some 9" ones for my Caddy but they did not fit, not bad picture though. You can go to your local shop and they will probally charge your $400 parts and labor to install custom visor monitors which is your best bet.

I like my HU. I can't afford $600 anyways plus If I did change HU's I'd want it to plug right into the current pioneer plug without me having to rewire everything. I could install the visors myself. I I'd rather just have a single screen thats clean and not in the way when I dont want it to be.

Other than in-dash video...no, and I see extreme custom cars all the time. I guess you could get a cheap monitor with a mount but that would be extremely cheap and ugly.
