EDIT/ADD: I was able to get the radar detector working in the ground labeled NON WORKING GROUND, and at the same time I figured out that there is a LED located to the left of the steering column under the instrument panel, the toggle switch controls that and runs to the 'odd-ball relay? I still would like to know what that relay controls! but the ground issue is resolved! I think I must not have had the radar/IGN spare plugged in correctly the first time

Okay so I wired up my radar detector and I used the 'ground' that this mystery wire was connect to...it didn't work...radar detector would not turn on...



I relocated the ground from the detector to the Known ground location labeled Working Ground and the radar detector works fine....



the problem is I have a toggle switch that is 'ON' as I discovered it, but it probably doesn't work because the ground isn't working. There was some yellow electrical tape over it (labeled 2) and where you see the marks on the picture for toggle switch. The Power of the toggle switch is going into the Relay Wire bundle, also in the bundle is a brown wire that is simply 'tucked' into the tape under the bundle, it's got wire sticking out from it?

Is this a STOCK toggle switch, or a Switch added by a prior owner for some unknown reason? Any ideas/suggestions....

also is that Relay supposed to securely mount to anything or just get 'tucked' under the dash?

 

Aftermarket alarm valet switch. I had one with my old Viper alarm system.

 

Anyone know what the far left relay is @0:25 of the video?

 

if it had a dvd player in it at one time, it could be that. some have switches that let u play dvds while its in gear.

 

Sorry to bring up an old thread but did you ever figure out what it was? I have the EXACT same switch in my 95 Z28. Wondering what the heck it does and means?
