Thumbs down my window

my window on the drivers side it works for about 3 seconds at a time.
then if you leave it alone for 10 minutes, it will work again.

I can never roll the window up or down all the way at once.
I have to wait for a while and try it again..

the longer you wait, the longer the window works... (something heating up?)

thanks, any help would be great...
does this sound like a common problem?

Re: my window

before you go and buy a new window motor and go through all that bull**** of putting it in, check the connections at your switches, mine was doing the same thing and i started to find out if i pushed down on the console it would work so i ended up tearing it apart and saw there was a bunch of stickey stuff spilled down in there where the switch connected to the harness, i guess the previous owner spilled soda or something down in there, but ever since i cleaned out everything its been working like new
