Monsoon: Wiring sub/amp

Well, I have a stealthbox, sony xplod class d amp, and a MA audio 12'' DVC sub.

Well I have 2 problems:
1st: I could not get any type of REM to work w/ the monsoon system, I tried wiring to the pinkish wire off my power antenna and it seems to turn on when the car turns on but doesn't turn off.

2nd: My setup worked when we first hooked it up and it was sounding amazing. We put my interior back together and I go no sub activity. It turns out it is blowing fuses now. Blows the fuse on the power cord (30A) and before, you hear some crackling in the sub.

Also, check my wiring:
Power cable off battery, fused.
Ground off one of the bolts under the rear panels (using copper power wire)
Rem (Not working, currently off of the pink wire to antenna)

Sub is DVC 4 ohm, I got it run in parallel so the amp see 2ohm load

Is it possible I blew the sub or something? My amp is rated at 600watts RMS @ 2ohms. The sub's listing at ma audios site says:
• 300W/350W Rms
• 600W/700W Max (Maybe i gave it too much juice?)

I tried wiring an RCA line off of my rear speaker and that didnt work, Also tried wiring high level outputs from my amp input.
I eventually went off my rear speaker amp inputs.
Used this:
Light Blue............Right Rear Speaker - connected to Right - on amp
Dark Blue.............Right Rear Speaker + connected to Right + on amp
Yellow................Left Rear Speaker - connected to Left - on amp
Brown.................Left Rear Speaker + connected to Left + on amp

I am puzzled why it worked excellent earlier and now it wont.

Re: Monsoon: Wiring sub/amp

check your power wire.. unplug it from the amp (make sure you terminate this end) and then put the fuse back inthe main fuse holder.. if it blows the fuse againw ithout anything hooked up to it then you have a short in your power wire. if it only blows when the amp is hooked up then you have a problem with either how you wired it to the amp or the amp itself.

if it blows after a period of time while its playing then it is still probably the amp OR your wire is too small for the setup you are running and the fuse gets too hot and blows.

does the sub smell like a burnt clutch or burnt hair? if so then you played the sub too hard.

was it bumping pretty hard before everything messed up?

basically what i do to troubleshoot is just unplug certain parts of the system and see if the problem persists (your fuse blowing).. if you elimate one part and the problem is fixed then you know that one part was the problem.

and for the amp turnon i would reccomend using a lead from teh fuse box (make sure you tap into the correct side of the fuse so that this wire is fused) that has a switched ignition then if you want to be even fancier put a toggle switch on that so you can turn the subs completely off at will.

Re: Monsoon: Wiring sub/amp

I am a bit worried i killed the sub. I used a different ground and just made sure everything was good. Now It will run off a 30A fuse for a few mins (just the amp at low power). AS I crank up the base, the sub simply rattles on the inside and then blows the fuse as it goes too high. It does smell a bit electrical inside the box but idk if that is just how the sub smells.

I did run the amp at like 70-90% @ 2ohms for about 20 mins listening to jams and this thing was POUNDING for that time.

Re: Monsoon: Wiring sub/amp

ah that sucks. if you disconnect the sub and the amp stops blowing fuses then its the sub.
luckily subs are inexpensive compared to amps and it should be an easy fix.
